neirud
Aunt Neirud was always present at family gatherings. Tall, athletic, she was also Gorilla Woman, a wrestler in a circus run by women in Brazil. She died without leaving any trace of her past. But who was this woman who’d been so close to the family?
The investigation is launched by the director, stubborn, immersed in the heart of the 1960-1980s. Through exile, secrecy, racism and nomadism, she uncovers a reality obscured by family silence and political turmoil, a story of a woman erased. With rhythmic and creative storytelling, Neirud takes you along the grandiose pathways of a strong figure, an emancipated person, in her own way.
